When our clients already had their dream neighborhood in West Knoxville, it became McCamy’s mission to transform their 1940s single-family house into a dream home that truly reflected their needs and lifestyle. This once-dated charmer received a full makeover designed to achieve every item on their wish list. With the addition of thoughtful new spaces, this reimagined home now offers a comfortable place for everyone to enjoy for years to come!
Eye-Catching Kitchen
Natural light now pours into this updated kitchen. A generous island adds both workspace and a casual spot for family meals, making it a true gathering point in the home. The redesigned layout creates an ideal setting for crafting the family’s favorite festive dishes! With highlighted cabinetry, practical appliance cubbies, rustic French doors and a striking stove hood, our clients now consider this space their favorite part of the home. “I love my new kitchen! It was so fun to host our family and friends over Thanksgiving”, says our clients.
This bright white kitchen has a colorful counterpart just off the dining area. A stunning green bar serves as the perfect spot for entertaining guests and family, connecting seamlessly to the kitchen, living, and dining spaces. Much like the cocktails mixed here, the bar is filled with thoughtful, carefully crafted details.
Office Addition
Just off the open family room sits a color-drenched office addition. Remnants of the original brick infuse the space with bold personality, creating a striking backdrop for work or creativity. The abundant shelving allows our clients to showcase all kinds of sweet and sentimental keepsakes. This home certainly isn’t short on charm. Each bedroom and bathroom incorporates just the right amount of color and pattern, bringing personality to every corner. With their daughters off at college, our clients wanted to give them a welcoming retreat to relax in when they’re home. By vaulting the upstairs ceilings, a whole new life was brought to these rooms. “Two of the biggest visual impacts came from raising the ceiling in the living room and the upstairs,” says our clients. The result is a set of spaces that feel both playful and soothing.
Downstairs, the guest bedroom and bathroom take on a more subtle palette. Soft blues create a calming environment for visitors while still connecting visually with the rest of the home. Even the laundry room gets its moment—geometric wallpaper adds energy and interest to a space that’s often overlooked.
Stunning Side Entrance
With the addition of a garage and a reconfigured driveway, the home needed another more convenient entry point. Connecting to both the side yard and the garage, this timeless mudroom now serves as a practical catch-all space that still showcases plenty of character and thoughtful details.
Major Makeover
The primary bathroom offers a serene counterpoint to the home’s bolder design moments. Custom cabinetry, a walk-in shower, and a freestanding tub come together to form a bright, refined retreat with all the comforts our clients hoped for.
Every part of this remodel—inside and out—was planned with the homeowners in mind. By working with McCamy designer Ashley, Architect Holly Young Williams and other local designers, our clients got everything they dreamed of, “Ashley was wonderful! We wanted to use a designer we had used for smaller home projects – Heather Powell with Powell Interiors. Ashley was very open to working with Heather and I feel like they were a wonderful team.” By restoring and reusing their patio pergola, the home retains a touch of its original charm. Added features like a luxury pool and private putting green bring modern enjoyment to the backyard, creating a perfect blend of past and present.
