Build Your Custom Home with Staggering Design for an Out-of-the-Box Look: Featuring Wellington Chase
Tuesday, December 22nd, 2015
Your home is your sanctuary. It’s more than just a shelter with four walls and a roof made of wood and stone. It’s where you spend the best part of your lives loving your most favorite people. When we build homes, we are building a box for your memories. From crossing the threshold as newlyweds to bringing home your first child, from summer cookouts to holiday parties to quiet family dinners, your home will become a part of everything you cherish. One of the reasons I love to build custom homes is because I get to play a small part in fulfilling the dreams of so many new homeowners. When I sit down with a family and they tell me how they picture the perfect home: an open kitchen with lots of room for storage, a modern (yet classic) fireplace in a living room with beautiful hardwood floors, a master bathroom with tile detail that will take your breath away… it always makes me smile to say, “Yes. Yes, we can do it all.” You see, at McCamy Construction, we do more than just build homes. We build dreams.
Earlier this month we finished a custom home in the Wellington Chase community. The kitchen was designed with an open layout and featured a marble countertop island, complete with a farmhouse sink. Kitchen islands are very popular in open kitchens, because not only do they function as an extra work surface where you can prepare and eat meals, they provide visual separation and also help facilitate a traffic pattern, which is an excellent benefit for homeowners who enjoy entertaining.
These kitchen cabinets are stunning! The cabinets are painted and include pullout drawers, slow close hinges, and mixed custom pulls and crystal knobs. The most unique aspect of this kitchen is the staggered corner wall pantry. Not only does it add more storage space, it creates visual interest as well.
The hardwood floors of this home are unlike any we have installed. They are engineered with a distressed, gray tone and blend extremely well with the black, gray, and white theme of this house. Hardwood floors are strong and durable, easy to clean, and give your home a high-quality look. They are also an excellent long-term investment and may actually increase the value of the home. If you choose to install hardwood floors in your custom home, follow these tips to prevent scratches and keep your floors looking new.
Custom fireplaces are one of our favorite specialties. The fireplace in this home is built with floor-to-ceiling wall tile. The staggered crystal tile adds great texture and a nice focal point for the living room. The black marble surround creates a beautiful contrast against the light gray crystal tile. Fireplaces are an economical way to warm your home without touching your thermostat. To keep cold chimney drafts from entering your home, be sure to check your damper seasonally. The bathrooms in this home are nothing like you’ve seen before in Wellington. The natural stone accent band in the master bath shower pulls together the subway tile (above) and the large wall tile (below) to create a one-of-a-kind shower design. The homeowner provided glass knobs and stainless pulls for the bathroom cabinetry, which created a clean and contemporary look. In this case, the “hardware” in this bathroom is actually more like gemware, which adds to the breathtaking aesthetics of the room.
