Meet Will Enochs – Project Supervisor at McCamy Construction
Tuesday, November 18th, 2014
1. Why did you decide to work for a construction company?
I have always been passionate and intrigued by construction & development. I attended the University of Tennessee and graduated in 2012 with a degree in Construction Science and minor in Business.
2. Why did you choose to work for McCamy Construction?
McCamy Construction offered an intern position in the summer of 2012, which I interviewed for and landed the position. I felt right at home and when I was offered a full time job upon graduation the following December, I was honored to take the supervising position!
3. What’s one thing you think everyone working in your position should know?
Communication is everything, which I am constantly reminding myself to work on! Also, building relationships between homeowners and subcontractors are key. To have a successful project, we all have to work in unison to make everything come together correctly and smoothly.
4. What excites you about working at McCamy Construction?
Everyday is a new growing and learning experience for me. There is so much to learn in this business, and every job is different even if it’s the same house plan. There’s always a challenge to overcome, and I have to stay calm and on my toes even when things are hectic and busy.
5. What’s an example of that?
They can be anything from getting to know each homeowner and helping them through their construction experience, learning how a sub works so that I can foresee things and have everything ready for him when shows up on a site, or how to deal with the weather and pouring concrete that day.
6. What was the last book you read (or recommended?)
Emerald Mile: The Epic Story of the Fastest Ride in History Through the Heart of the Grand Canyon by Kevin Fedarko. It’s an amazing read and incredible having experience with the rapids and camps they reference. But it’s a great read for anyone and everyone experienced it or not.
7. What was your first job?
This is my first “real” job and I love it! My first paycheck came from First Realty Company, which is my dad’s real estate company. He put me to work at an early age around the office doing anything and everything from mowing lawns to filing old paperwork.
8. Who or what inspires you?
My uncle William “Wild Bill” Walker has been the most influential and inspirational person since he passed away in March of 2011 during an aerobatic stunt plane show in Flagler, Florida.
9. Why do you feel that way?
It was a very humbling experience for everyone. But he made me realize most that we can’t take anything for granted and to live life to its absolute fullest. With that, I made a commitment to myself when he passed away and feel like I have lived up to it so far.
10. What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I like to think of myself as an adventurer and outdoor enthusiast! Kayaking, rafting, canoeing, mountain biking, road biking, fly fishing, climbing, hunting, skiing, snowboarding, motorcycling, camping, and traveling are just a few of my favorite hobbies 🙂
11. What might (someone) be surprised to know about you?
I worked as a raft guide on the Ocoee River for three years. I still guide on the occasion but mostly private trips, such as the 16 day private Colorado trip through the Grand Canyon trip this year with family and friends!
12. What do you wish other people knew about McCamy Construction?
We are all energetic, passionate, and strive to build strong relationship with each customer/homeowner, so they can become a part of our family!
13. What’s the best thing to happen since you started working with McCamy Construction?
I’ve learned so much “hands on” and real world” experience that you can’t learn in school!
