It’s no secret to Knoxville natives that the 37919 area is a prime location for many families looking to set down roots. Great schools, lots of history, and proximity to some of Knoxville’s best businesses make it a popular area–and the housing market reflects that! This year, McCamy decided to take on a project that brought three new homes to the area.
In our July 2021 newsletter, we shared two new build homes that kicked off our Polkwright Project. There was a mid-1900s home going on the market with a lot big enough for two additional homes. We purchased the home and started the process of dividing one lot into three.
McCamy’s designer, Ashley Jones, had a vision for this project that brought lots of new curb appeal to a somewhat forgotten property. Read all about how she made timeless selections in our July feature here!
The next phase of the project was renovating the existing home. We wanted to bring it up to McCamy standard before selling it without making any major changes. Starting with the exterior, small changes made a big difference. Trim details and a new paint color brought out a mid-century look true to the original.
More mid-century touches were carried throughout the home, but the finishes are much more 2021. The kitchen received most of our TLC with a total overhaul. A more functional layout makes the space feel much bigger, and the new finishes make it feel more current.
The bathrooms, living room and hallway were updated while preserving as much existing material as possible. We wanted to keep this project timely and cost-effective, so we made improvements that had a big impact on the space (but not on our budget!)
McCamy president, Grant McMahan, concluded that the Polkwright Project was a great way for us to get back into what we do best. “This project was not only a good way to bring more family homes into the community, but it also allowed us to get back into development on our own.”
