How to Use Fall Colors for a Year-Round Home Design
Wednesday, November 4th, 2015
Fall is a magical time of year in Tennessee. The air is crisp and the leaves are changing colors, painting the Smokies with various shades of red, orange, and yellow. With such beauty as this, you may feel as though you want to live in fall forever. Well, perhaps you can. By incorporating fall colors into your home design, you can utilize gorgeous fall colors while still keeping your home “in season” year-round.
Red
Go bold with bright red wall color like in this home office design. When choosing furniture to complement the space, consider wood, particularly a dark mahogany.
Add a punch of color to a neutral room with deep red accents (such as curtains, pillows, or a vase of roses) for a classy effect.
Orange
When paired with beige, butternut orange creates a soft and cozy feel in your home, like it does in this living room.
You can also accent with a brighter shade of orange for a pop of vibrant color. The sheer pumpkin curtains in this dining room add a bit of cheer and still allow natural light to open up the space.
Yellow
A versatile color, yellow can soften, spark, or enrich any room depending on its shade. Pale yellow pairs well with blues, grays, and white and will give your bedroom a sweet, delicate look.
Bright yellow can be used to create an exciting focal point in an otherwise neutral-colored room.
For a modern bathroom, a golden yellow is the perfect choice for interior paint. Gold hardware and cream countertops will complete the look.
Brown
Dark brown will make any space feel rich. This kitchen uses lighter features, such as custom backsplash tile, stainless steel appliances, and good lighting to balance out the dark color.
When incorporated into a patterned design with light or more vibrant colors, (like the pattern in these dining room chairs), dark brown will give the room a more contemporary effect.
