The Home She’s Always Deserved

The outdoor living space recently completed by McCamy Construction — complete with a beautiful pool and sunroom — is more than just an addition to a home. It’s part of the homeowners’ love story.
The original Westmoreland home was built in 1948. The homeowners purchased the home nearly six years ago, when a good friend decided he needed a larger home for his growing family.
“It was a perfect scenario dream house,” said the homeowner. “They didn’t even put it on the market. It was one of those circumstances that you look back on and see that this was meant to be.”
The homeowner and his now-wife were newlyweds, having met when they were playing tennis. While the pair were dating, she was diagnosed with cancer. They were engaged soon after the diagnosis. After multiple surgeries, she is now finally in remission.
“This was the perfect house for us,” the homeowner said. “Now, with this addition, the girls always say they don’t need to go on vacation because we can just stay right here!”
The homeowners interviewed McCamy’s President of Construction Grant McMahan when they first began the process of planning the home addition, and ultimately chose him for the project.
“I interviewed Grant, and things just clicked,” the homeowner explained. “Their vision and our vision matched and I trusted him.”
McCamy’s project manager Justin Carroll is now like a brother, according to the homeowner, and the entire experience was great. The team was able to build the addition onto the house without disrupting the integrity of the home. The homeowners wanted to make sure the addition looked like it had always been there.
“The blend was exactly right,” the homeowner said. “Everything really came together, and their timing was perfect. You always hear horror stories about a builder saying they’ll do it in five months, then 10 months later you’re still dealing with it. But McCamy said it would be done in July, and it was done in July.”
The project began pre-pandemic, but despite that, everything progressed according to the original timeline.
“We have three separate spaces, and we love them all,” the homeowner said. “The girls love the pool, and we love the porch with the fireplace. The weather is perfect for it right now. The sunroom is a quiet oasis. It’s a place to sit and read or be on a conference call.”
The sparkling in-ground pool is surrounded by elegant stone reminiscent of a time gone by, and the open air porch area blends seamlessly with the design of both the pool area and the home. The sunroom is a bright, airy addition with views of the entire backyard oasis.
Both homeowners work in the medical industry and have a lot of calls, so when everyone is home, it can be hard to have privacy.
“But you can get it there,” he said.
This was his wife’s dream and vision.
“This is the piece of the puzzle that she deserved after what she’s been through,” he said.
As far as the work performed by McCamy, the homeowner said he would recommend them to anyone.
“Their transparency, their commitment to their word and willingness to make sure they work with your vision was perfect for both of us,” he said.
McCamy Construction is proud to be a part of the homeowners’ love story and happy ending.
