Eighty Acre Run
Friday, October 27th, 2023
Many people dream of life in the country, acres upon acres of land, a chicken coop, and a beautiful farmhouse to call “home”. After 14 years of living in West Knoxville, our clients decided to make that dream a reality. They purchased 80 acres located a mere 20 minutes from Downtown Knoxville, giving their family the best of both worlds. Nature, gardening, animals, and a quick jaunt to their favorite city spots–they have it all!
It Started with a Vision
These clients attended church with the McCamy family for several years, so our team was top of mind when they decided to build a custom home. After meeting with McCamy president, Grant McMahan, they felt that their vision was finally understood. “Grant’s attention to detail and understanding of our desires & dreams was key. We interviewed several builders and none of them got ‘us’ the way he did,” the homeowner reflected.
Their vision was a merge between farmhouse and mountain house. “We wanted to avoid some of the “modern farmhouse” stereotypes. I desired a comfortable and warm home, not the stark white impersonal houses all over online.” McCamy designer, Ashley Jones, helped them achieve this look with natural wood and stone elements, transitional selections and contrasting tones.
Farmhouse Luxury
The homeowner praised, “Working with Ashley was a dream! She was the best part of the whole thing. She took my vision and design ideas and turned them into a beautiful reality.” Each space blends fresh, clean contemporary design with classic, rustic elements that bring in the beautiful outdoor surroundings. Wood beams and a stone fireplace surround in the great room flow effortlessly from the stained tongue and groove ceilings and stone accents on the exterior, giving a cohesive feel at every turn.
From the dining room views to the entryway statement wall, this home is showstopping in every detail. The luxurious kitchen merges bright white countertops with rich wood cabinets. Vaulted ceilings and natural light make the great room feel grand, while warm wood tones and a cast iron fireplace bring the cozy, inviting feel our clients were after.
The dining room puts any other “dinner with a view” to shame, making family dinners feel like luxury. With 80 acres of beautiful East Tennessee land all around, this home needed plenty of windows and outdoor living space to enjoy their home to the fullest. The screened-in porch is an extension of the great room, making the indoors feel cohesive with the great outdoor surroundings.
Every room of this home makes a statement, from the floral wallpaper in the powder room to the office built-ins to the double-entry shower in the primary bathroom. Our friends at Dixie Kitchen installed custom-designed cabinets and vanities throughout the home, including living room built-ins that provide extra storage and the perfect spot for a TV.
Home Sweet Home
These clients are loving life on the farm in their beautiful new home. They love how Ashley helped them bring their vision to life. “We had fun with wood tones, mixed metals, colorful wallpaper and focal walls, and it’s a dream,” the homeowner said. “We love this home! We’re very happy and will absolutely recommend McCamy to anyone looking for a custom builder. We already have!”
