4 Ways to Put Some Life Back in Your Bathroom
Friday, October 17th, 2014

The bathroom plays an important role in every household. The reality? Your family’s life revolves around it. With that in mind, the style and decor of the bathroom may play a more important role in your life than you may have imagined.
In fact, updating your bathroom is simple and could produce a significant improvement in the atmosphere of your whole house.
Where do we start?
Houzz.com offers some great suggestions for updating your vintage bathroom, suggesting simple, cheap changes to make your bathroom family friendly and full of pizzazz. “Don’t demolish — distract the eye by updating small details.”
What does that mean exactly? Here are a few suggestions:
1. Update fixtures.
Updating fixtures is an option but it’s vital to be sure water leaks are corrected. Some fixtures could be saved while old, damaged tile might need to be replaced. Outdated color fixtures can sometimes be resurfaced easily and economically.
2. Play up minor colors in the vintage tile.
According to the article, minor colors in the wall decorations can play an important role. With the older tile colors for example, pull in “the tile colors as a minor color.” Choosing artwork which coordinates with the color scheme of the tile can be easy and effective. An upgrade in your bathroom could be as easy as being “purposeful about the artwork” you choose.
3. Paint old tile.
Other ideas include painting old floor or wall tiles, but this can be a tricky challenge for a home improvement novice so it might be worth considering or at least consulting with a professional.
4. Change out dated wallpaper, shower curtain and lighting fixtures.
Wallpaper, shower curtain, and lighting are also great places to make major differences and stay economical. Many other simple, yet very effective ideas can enhance the friendly appeal of your bathroom such as making the most of wallpaper patterns and shower curtain as well as putting shelving in just the right locations.
Looking for a fun project that can be completed quickly and easily without an extravagant budget or a full-scale remodel? A bathroom makeover might be just the right thing to spruce up your bathroom and your home. The result? Your own one-of-a-kind masterpiece ready to be enjoyed by the family and friends.
