When deciding on a color scheme for your bathroom, it is important to take into account the permanency of tile. While you can repaint your bathroom for under $100 and switch out your shower curtain and rugs for even less, re-tiling your floor, walls, and backsplash can cost thousands. Here are a few tips you should consider when choosing the best tile color for you bathroom:
If you have a small bathroom…
Use light colors, pastels, and neutrals when tiling a small bathrooms to give the illusion of increased dimensions.
If you have a large bathroom…
Feel free to choose a tile that is darker and saturated with color. Bright hues really resonate in an oversized master bathroom, especially if it receives a lot of sunlight.
If you’re tiling around existing fixtures…
Keep in mind that the color you choose should complement the rest of your bathroom, so make sure it matches the style of your vanity, sink, wall light, or whatever fixtures that are already in place.
If you’re choosing floor tile…
Textured tile will make your bathroom floor less slippery and a darker shade will hide dirt well. Consider staying neutral if you’re the kind of person who likes change.
If you’re choosing wall or backsplash tile…
Let your personality shine through with a unique color or beautiful mosaic design.
