Sequoyah Gardens Custom
Every home we build in Knoxville and the surrounding communities provides us with a unique opportunity to exercise creativity and perfect the McCamy touch. Recently, we finished an “old world” custom home build in Sequoyah Gardens, featuring a beautiful master suite and hardwood flooring throughout.
McCamy’s New Take on Old World Design
The exterior of this home was the most unique aspect of the build. The home was designed to have an old world, cottage feel and we considered every detail to refine the look. The steep slate roof sets the tone for the cottage-style aspect of the home and the textured brick mortar completes the custom look by giving the home an old world quality. The dark windows and accent woodwork carved from hemlock add the finishing touch to this high end custom home in Sequoyah Gardens.
A Sweet Master Suite
The master suite in this home is breathtaking in both size and style. The tall trey ceiling maximizes the bedroom space making it feel open and spacious. Just off the master, through the French doors, is an outdoor patio where the homeowners can enjoy a morning coffee or late night cocktail. If you pass through the arched hallway, you’ll find the master bath and closet. The drop in tub and custom tile shower is a homeowner favorite and completes the “suite” experience.
There’s No Knocking This Wood
The hardwoods in this home were selected by the homeowners during the design consultation with our Director of Design, Ashley Jones. The wood is a warm neutral color that blends nicely with the creamy walls and white trim.
McCamy insight for hardwood lovers: There are so many types of hardwoods out there. The flooring used in this home is a 5” pre-finished hardwood. Pre-finished, engineered wood floors are a popular choice for new home builds and custom remodels. Most pre-finished hardwood can be laid with glue adhesive or staples. Traditional nail down, three-quarter solid hardwood delivers a similar classic look, but is finished on site with whatever stain color you want for a custom, rich feel. Depending on the species of wood, the traditional process is the most expensive, but the results can be worthwhile.
A Word from the Homeowner
“We talked to a couple builders early on, but McCamy Construction sealed the deal during our first consultation. The Team was very friendly, professional, and accommodating— we bonded and formed an instant relationship. We love everything about our home and have already recommended them to several friends without reservation.” — David Holt
