Honoring History, Building Community
Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024
As we enter into the Fall season, McCamy Construction is building more than custom homes and outdoor spaces. With two sets of neighboring projects, our experienced team is also building community.
Our work throughout Knoxville, Tennessee National, and Rarity Bay remains, but as Summer comes to an end, we find ourselves with four active projects in Sequoyah Hills. Over the years, McCamy has loved being a part of preserving the history of the beloved Knoxville neighborhood. Our founder, Sam McCamy, chose Sequoyah to call “home,” making our continued presence in the community even more meaningful, and we’re excited to share the progress of our current Sequoyah projects.
New Builds, Classic Charm
It’s in with the new right in the heart of Sequoyah! Two custom home new builds are designed to embody the timeless elegance that defines this historic neighborhood. These homes, influenced by classic European styles, will add to the rich architectural tapestry of the area.
One custom home is inspired by the romantic charm of French Country design, with weathered brick and rustic touches throughout. This home includes a butler’s pantry, a mudroom with brick flooring, and an outdoor fireplace. The finishes will give this home a classically current feel, making it both modern and historically rooted.
Its neighboring custom home pays homage to the stately sophistication of English Tudor design. The homes throughout Sequoyah Hills are diverse in their architecture, given that the neighborhood has been developing for decades. Tudor-style homes became popular in the 1920s. A century later, there has been a recent resurgence of the style, which speaks to the timeless nature of the design.
This home will bring more of the Sequoyah storybook charm that Knoxville residents love, blending an old-world feel with modern living.
Historic Homes, Modern Luxuries
Speaking of old-world Tudor homes, we’re also working on an exciting project that perfectly exemplifies our dedication to blending historic charm with modern luxury. This 1920s home is getting a backyard makeover with the help of some Knoxville outdoor space experts. Our McCamy team is working with Carex Design Group and Magnolia Landscaping to bring this pool project to life.
We’re adding a luxurious swimming pool and a beautifully designed pool house that will blend seamlessly with the existing home’s finishes. Our goal is to create a backyard that feels like a natural extension of the home—a space where the homeowners can relax, entertain, and enjoy for years to come.
Next door, we’re undertaking a major renovation of a craftsman-style rancher. The home will see a significant extension, including a more functional kitchen and mudroom. Outside, we’re transforming the previously unused pool area into an inviting outdoor kitchen and covered porch, perfect for year-round gatherings with family and friends.
These neighboring outdoor spaces are more than just renovations. They’re about enhancing the way this community interacts while preserving the timeless design of these historic homes. We’re thrilled to be a part of bringing our clients’ visions to life on this beautiful Sequoyah street.
Building on Tradition
At McCamy Construction, we understand the importance of developing a neighborhood that has such historic significance in Knoxville. We believe that true craftsmanship honors the past while embracing the future, and this philosophy guides every project we undertake.
Whether we’re constructing new homes inspired by classic European designs or enhancing the beauty of a historic 1920s Tudor, we approach each task with the respect and reverence that such timeless architecture deserves. Our goal is not only to add to the neighborhood’s charm but also to ensure that the homes we build today will be cherished by generations to come.
