A Stunning Renovation Reveal in Sequoyah Hills
Wednesday, September 27th, 2017
Over the past several years, we’ve enjoyed becoming apart of the beautiful Sequoyah Hills community and getting to know wonderful families with every renovation we complete. Recently, we finished another kitchen and master bath renovation that gave us the opportunity to help another set of homeowners fall in love with their home all over again. Built in 1940, this home was not designed with an open floor plan like most modern homes. The kitchen was small and divided by an island and upper cabinets. This odd layout limited movement and made it not very functional. The homeowners wanted to expand the space, add more storage options, and include an eat-in area. Because this kitchen had some serious potential, we came up with several different floor plans so the homeowners could see their options.“We knew McCamy Construction by their reputation and seeing the other homes they’ve built and renovated in Sequoyah Hills. We liked that they were familiar with older homes, friendly, professional, and genuinely excited about the job. Ashley took my ideas and made them look good.”After selecting one they loved, we went to work. We said goodbye to the island and the upper cabinetry and gutted everything. We changed the layout by moving the range and oven against a wall and built out a custom eat-in area with built-in bench. The stained wood cabinets with the warm wood tones paired with the home’s existing hardwood floors well. We put in a white quartz countertop, a backsplash with accent tile work behind the range, and under cabinet lighting to make the details pop. Canned lights and two classic dome light fixtures went up into the ceiling and brand new appliances finished the look.
“I love our new kitchen. We have more storage space than we could even use. The eat-in area is perfect—the kids can eat there or just sit and color while I cook dinner.”The master bath was the second part of this project. It was originally built between the bedroom and the closet, so you would have to walk through the bathroom in order to get to the closet. The homeowners needed more bathroom and more closet space, so we got rid of this awkward layout and expanded both. We moved the closet into the bedroom and made it bigger. For the bathroom itself, we installed a soaker tub with a window to let in some natural light. We put in a large walk-in shower with custom tile work and glass doors and next to it, a double sink vanity. While the kitchen had more of a traditional feel, we stuck with a modern look for the bathroom, using various shades of gray and white. All in all, we felt this renovation was another success! But what did the homeowners have to say?
“I recommend McCamy 100%. Everyone was really nice and friendly, easy to work with, and accommodating. We felt confident with their ability to fix things and they did a perfect job!”At McCamy Construction, we specialize in custom homebuilding and large renovations and have been honored to complete projects like this one in Sequoyah Hills and other communities in Knoxville, TN and the surrounding area.
