4 Easy Ways to Reorganize Your Life This Fall
Monday, September 8th, 2014
Autumn is just around the corner, the time of year when most households are busy with everyone going this way and that.
What can you do to simplify your life with a little easy redesign in your home?
Let’s find out!
A recent article on Houzz.com,
10 Things Your Home Needs For Autumn, gave a lot of simple ideas for transforming some of your home’s busiest spaces into really usable areas.
The Kitchen
Let’s start with the busiest place in nearly every home, the kitchen.
Maybe a reorganization will help. With school starting up again, kids will need a place to do their homework and often that place should be in eyeshot of mom or dad. A suggestion? Find a corner in the kitchen for a small desk and chair.
Need more family time together? The kitchen can be transformed into a place for family to gather with some easy solutions: Try adding an island with stools, or a large table.
Something else to consider is making an open floor plan by opening up the space between the living or family room and the kitchen. Often this is a simple procedure, but it can be complicated if the wall is load bearing. Feel free to

Find a Place for a Window Seat
If you love the fall views, almost nothing can be more relaxing than a window seat by your favorite window.
Don’t have a window seat? No problem! How about moving tables and love seats “closer to the window for autumn daydreaming”?
Need a Mud Room?
Somehow autumn reminds us that winter is soon on the way and along with it, messier weather. In Knoxville, Tennessee we usually don’t have that much snow, but the rainy season can sure make a mess of things.
Unfortunately, sometimes the space for an actual mud room just doesn’t exist no matter how hard we try.
A great alternative? Lining up a storage place in a hallway or area by the door with lots of cubbies for shoes, and baskets for hats and gloves may be just the thing your home needs to keep everyone organized and their wet shoes in safe places. Want a place to hang jackets, too? Hang pegs above the cubbies for a quick place to hang jackets and coats.
