Lenoir City Kitchen Remodel Unveiled

What do you do when you love your home, but hate your kitchen? Many homeowners often face this dilemma when buying a previously owned home or after spending years of happy living and loving in one place. For the Bivens, their kitchen was the hub of their home, but after raising a family, it was in need of an upgrade.
During the first home site visit, we met with the Bivens to discuss how they envisioned their dream kitchen and what they expected out of the remodel. We completed the follow up at our design center, where I introduced them to our in-house designer,
Ashley Jones. Once a new kitchen design was established and material selections made, we ordered the products.
“The designer expertise was well worth the investment. Ashley did a great job matching colors and making other design recommendations. We couldn’t have accomplished the look we wanted without her.” – Danny Bivens
The McCamy Difference: Ordering the materials we need to complete a new home build or renovation project is one of the ways we ensure there are no delays once demolition begins. It’s a privilege to be invited into someone’s home, so when we go about our work we want to be as respectful as possible, which includes minimizing disruption to your lifestyle. Our goal is to be in and out in a timely manner without sacrificing the look or quality of our services. We do this with lots of pre-planning and excellent communication.
“As far as efficiency goes, someone was there doing something every day except for one during the entire project. McCamy got there and got the work done and the crew was super friendly and professional.” – Danny Bivens
We began kitchen demolition by pulling out all of the old oak cabinetry and donating it to Karm. Once everything was removed, we made slight modifications to electrical and plumbing. We removed the fluorescent light in the center of kitchen and installed several new recessed lights to brighten up the kitchen and give it a new modern feel.
Lighting makes a huge difference in a brand new space. This kitchen really shines with our under cabinet lights, highlighting the new granite tops and custom backsplash. The pendants over the bar create a nice focal and are convenient when reading the morning paper over a cup of coffee. See how we used lighting in another kitchen remodel
here.
Next came the sheetrock. The ceilings and walls were patched, textured to match, and prepped for paint. We then painted the kitchen a neutral gray and put a fresh coat of semi gloss on all trim.
The Bivens liked the original kitchen layout, so we kept it the same, but upgraded it with new amenities. For example, all cabinetry now goes to the ceiling, which allows for additional storage space and a more custom look. We also moved the fridge location to the right to accommodate a large double pantry, something the old kitchen design lacked. The new cabinets were painted white with a light glaze, which really brightened up the space and made it feel much more open.
The kitchen island was built with an overhang on both sides of the bar to allow for custom seating, a special request from the homeowners.
As we wrapped up the renovation, we installed brand new Whirlpool stainless appliances which added to the modern look the homeowners were after. After a checking off a few remaining punch list items, this kitchen was complete!
“Our experience was outstanding. I highly recommend McCamy Construction to anyone who needs to remodel their kitchen.” – Danny Bivens
