Why Sequoyah Hills Homeowners Choose McCamy Construction

Earlier this month we finished another custom renovation in Sequoyah Hills. As far as renovations go, this one was rather large and involved a good amount of demolition as we restructured some of the original rooms to be more open and functional and added on to increase its living space. What we didn’t demolish and rebuild, we updated with new, sleek finishes to create the modern look our homeowners envisioned.
Lack of functional living space was one of the biggest pain points for our homeowners.
“We liked the house and we loved the neighborhood, but we knew a few things needed to be changed when we bought our home. We have three kids and two dogs and the home’s original layout did not allow for much breathing room. The kitchen and living room were sectioned off and the guest bathroom was actually larger than the one in the master suite. We wanted more square footage, more interior natural light, a new screen porch, and an exterior facelift.”
After an in-home consultation and a few face-to-face meetings, we had a plan that was ready to go!
Kitchen
We completely gutted the kitchen and built it back with brand new design. We installed white cabinets, quartz countertops, subway tile backsplash that included a nice accent above the stove, and a long bench unit with additional storage space underneath and overhead. We also built a two-tiered kitchen island with a farmhouse sink for additional countertop space, equipped with bar stool seating. Since we knocked down the walls that closed off the kitchen from the living room, the island visually separates each room while maintaining the openness.

Living Area
Expanding the living room was no small feat. In addition to knocking down the walls between the kitchen and the living room, we added onto it, which pushed it further into the backyard. This allowed the homeowners to enjoy family time at the back of the house rather than close to the road like before. We designed the new living area with a vaulted beam ceiling, installed large windows to let in natural light, built a custom fireplace, laid hardwood floors, and spruced up the walls with new paint and trim.
Bathrooms
We renovated all three bathrooms as well. For the master bathroom, we borrowed space from another room to make it larger and built a walk-in shower with custom tile and brushed nickel fixtures. We also reworked the guest bathroom for a better layout and designed the bath area with more custom tile and a teak shelf towards the back of the tub. The basement bathroom was updated with new tile and fixtures also.
After the renovation was complete, we asked our homeowners why they chose McCamy Construction and what experience stood out the most.
“We looked at a few reputable companies, but we chose McCamy Construction because we really appreciated how Grant and Ashley listened to our needs and help us with our vision instead of trying to morph it into something else. They listened more than they talked and when they offered up ideas, they weren’t trying to change what we wanted into something different. Ashley kept us on track with style and colors and ultimately improved what we had in mind.
McCamy was the quickest to respond and was willing to work around our busy schedules and offered both early morning and evening appointments. They gave us a great estimate and were honest about what they could do with our budget and even suggested some money saving options.
Committing to an invasive renovation can be challenging and stressful, but McCamy made the process less so by including the entire family; even the dogs loved them. They were very respectful of family time and let our kids sit in the dump truck and honk the horn. Any issues were expedited and problems were thoughtfully worked around. Unknown stress did not hang in the air longer than needed. The McCamy team had an invested interest in us even after the job was done. For example, Michael, the job superintendent, suggested that we keep all of the paperwork and inspection tags for future reference in case we needed them later.
We’ve already recommended McCamy to several friends considering similar renovations and we actually have another project for them in the near future.”
