In the rolling hills of East Tennessee, it’s rare that a home doesn’t mimic the classic, Southern, or rustic vibes that our landscapes emulate. Contemporary design is the least common preference among our clients, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make our clients’ dreams come true when they prefer a modern touch! In this Tennessee National custom home for California clients, we had fun bringing a unique vision to life. From glass railing to sleek marble, this home incorporates the best of contemporary and timeless design.
Modern Marvel
For the exterior design plan, our clients knew they wanted a contrast–specifically black windows with white siding. The outside look needed to reflect the atmosphere of the neighborhood, so we also incorporated rustic touches with wood columns and a stone water table. The top row window grids give a clue into the contemporary style inside.
The kitchen is where this home’s style really shines. Dark waterfall countertops on the kitchen island make for a bold statement with sleek finishes that allow the island to shine. Our clients wanted simple white shaker cabinets with sleek hardware to keep the kitchen in line with the contemporary style of the home. While the refrigerator and dishwasher are hidden behind cabinet panels, the large dual range is the star in this kitchen!
Another highlight of this home is the primary bathroom, which is a modern oasis with all the amenities. A free-standing tub sits next to the open rain head shower, creating a luxurious take on a wet room. A built-in vanity and LED mirrors are the perfect simple and modern finish to this space.
These homeowners really considered their guests when planning the upstairs bathroom. The ensuite bath creates a second primary bedroom with spacious accommodations. The large tub and sleek shower are perfect for guests who travel across the country to visit our California clients!
Along with the tall ceilings and large windows, the glass railing really makes this home feel open. This type of railing isn’t typical among our projects. Lucky for these clients, they’re not concerned with sticky fingers or slobbery snouts! They had a vision for sleek glass railing overlooking their great room, and our team was determined to make it happen for them!
