Retirement Reimagined
Tuesday, April 30th, 2024
You’ve built a career, raised a family, finally experienced grandkids, and made it to the golden age: retirement. Your next chapter is yours to write. What will you choose?
For our latest custom home clients, their desire was to spend their days on the golf course, out on their boat, or with their grandkids. After decades of living in Chattanooga, they didn’t want to move too far and knew East Tennessee would always feel like home. They discovered Tennessee National and all their boxes were checked.
They loved the idea of living on a golf course, and the marina was perfect for them to be close to the water. They also loved that the residents are of all ages and the homes vary in size. The environment soon felt like home, and they were sold.
From Blue-Prints to Reality
They began working on plans for their future custom build, and their close friends put McCamy on their radar. “McCamy was the obvious choice after we completed the interview process. We were impressed with Grant and how he outlined their building process. The McCamy team was very supportive of the unique touches we wanted to incorporate, which not all builders are,” the homeowner praised.
They were also sold by the idea of working with McCamy’s interior designer. “Ashley was a tremendous asset when it came to choosing all of our finishes, appliances, fixtures, etc. She quickly assessed our aesthetic and narrowed our choices so that we were not overwhelmed. We are thrilled with the end result!”
Design Vision
Outdoor space was a main priority for their home plans. They wanted to maximize their views of the golf course and have plenty of options for enjoying their new neighborhood. A screened-in porch with a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace is the star of the show. This space will be their go-to all year round thanks to an enclosure system that converts the screens to windows.
Inside, they wanted high ceilings, an open floor plan and lots of natural light. Another grand fireplace centers the great room, which leads into the open kitchen. These clients prefer clean, simple design, which is evident in the classic nature of their choices. Pops of soft, dusty blue run throughout the home, from the laundry room to the kitchen and great room built-ins. This classic denim color is basically a neutral, which will keep the home feeling timeless through the years.
Here to Stay
Speaking of which, our clients are so happy they don’t think they’ll ever leave! “Our completed home actually exceeded our expectations! We have gotten emotional several times during the process over just how beautifully it was developing. We are very satisfied!” They’re looking forward to enjoying all that Tennessee National has to offer. They’re excited to make new friends and do what they love in such a beautiful setting.
Although they don’t see themselves building another custom home any time soon, it’s not because they didn’t enjoy the process. There were no horror stories to be found here! Actually, quite the opposite. “We learned a lot in the building process. First, things don’t always go as designed, and you have to make adjustments. McCamy worked with us on those adjustments, and in many cases the adjustments turned out better than the original design. Also, you have to make compromises with your spouse during the building process, which really goes without saying. We found this process was actually beneficial to our marriage.”
Custom Home on Par
They moved in just in time for Spring and Summer, and they’ve already been enjoying their outdoor spaces. It’s only their first week, and they’re already enjoying cocktails on the back porch while watching the sunset. They’ve set up the stereo, broken in the oven and started stocking the drink fridge, so they’re ready to get the party started!
We love ushering our clients into the next phase of their lives. Whether that’s starting retirement, growing their family or moving to a new city, we love to create a beautiful and sound home for them to make memories in for years to come. It was a pleasure seeing this home be brought to life in Tennessee National. If you’re interested in building a custom home of your own, don’t hesitate to contact us today! We look forward to hearing from you and making your home dreams come true.
