1950’s Sequoyah Hills Renovation Progress!
Wednesday, March 18th, 2015
Several months ago, we started work on a 1950’s rancher on Cherokee Boulevard in Sequoyah Hills of Knoxville. The home owners were ready for a little more space, but they love their lot and neighborhood and didn’t want to part with either.
The solution? They decided to completely renovate the entire inside of their home and add some additions.
This may not sound like a huge undertaking…except that they also wanted to re-distribute the space in the home as well.
This meant that the entire house had to be gutted, along with the removal of some walls.
See our
blog post from December when renovations began.
Presently, we’ve made great progress. All areas have been demolished and then roughed in.
What does that mean? It’s ready to build back up again and we are excited to see one of our largest renovations to date come back to life!
Here’s what we’ve done so far:
• We demolished the entire house. Everything came out except the walls and roof!
• The carport addition was removed, the yard was graded, and we got it ready for the new addition.
• After that, we pinned the house for the addition, then dug and poured the footers.
• Next, we laid the block for the new addition
• Once the block was laid, framing was started on both the addition and existing house. We had removed a lot of interior walls and it is now time now to rebuild them to improve the flow and function of the house.
• Termite treatment has been done on the whole house.
• All siding has been removed, house has been wrapped, and is ready for new installations.
• Soffit and facia has been repaired.
• Beautiful brand new windows and doors were ordered and have been installed.
• Masonry work has been done to fill in the old windows and doors.
• All electrical work has been re-done with low-voltage including prewiring for the sound system, security, technology package.
• All plumbing work is done including the master shower with rain head, body sprays, hand-held spray.
• 2 new hi efficiency hvac systems have been installed.
• A new residential sprinkler system throughout the house.
• A spray foam insulation throughout house for high efficiency.
• Sheetrock scheduled is starting this week!
We are so excited to see this home come back together. Stay tuned for more progress updates.
