New Year, New Look in Rarity Bay
Looking for a change of scenery, our clients relocated from Des Moines, Iowa to the rolling hills of East Tennessee. Drawn by lakeside views and the natural beauty of the area, they found the perfect place to call home in the Rarity Bay community. While embracing their new surroundings, they wanted to carry elements of the contemporary design they loved in their former home into this new retreat. The result is a modern, contemporary style that stands apart from the more traditional homes in the area.
Gathering Spaces
The bright, open-concept kitchen and dining area is defined by clean, elegant lines. Highlights include striking light fixtures, a tambour-trimmed range hood, and beautiful contrasting cabinetry. This flexible space is perfect for daily life and entertaining, whether for a shared cooking session or a big game day. A seamless transition to the stunning patio, which overlooks the course, makes this area equally inviting for warm summer nights and, recently, picturesque winter views.
Adjacent to the kitchen is a secondary, cozier entertaining area. The room is anchored by a sleek solid slab table and complemented by a stylish bar featuring floating shelves. Designed for comfortable lounging and memorable moments, this space provides ample room for relaxed hosting.
Inviting Entryway
Upon entering this beautiful, modern home, guests are welcomed into a refined formal sitting room full of detail. Symmetrical French doors frame the space, and the eye is drawn upward by hexagon ceiling accents and a striking chandelier. This luxurious entry sets a peaceful tone, ideal for quiet reading or relaxation.
Perfect Primary
Conveniently located on the main floor, the primary bedroom and bathroom serve as a true retreat. The spacious bathroom boasts a double vanity spanning the length of the room and leads to a walk-in closet complete with custom built-ins and a central island for all storage needs. With serene views of the golf course and lake, this space offers a perfect place to unwind and recharge.
Downstairs, the guest bedroom and bathroom take on a more subtle palette. Soft blues create a calming environment for visitors while still connecting visually with the rest of the home. Even the laundry room gets its moment. Geometric wallpaper adds energy and interest to a space that’s often overlooked.

McCamy’s expert interior designer, Ashley, helps turn big decisions into exciting ones—while keeping every detail on track. “Ashley was easy to work with and made many great suggestions regarding our interior (the accent ceiling in the study was our favorite, and working with Cella Flooring/Design and Maryville Top Shop were great calls). She was also a skilled project manager, advising on HVAC, floor layout, and other less glamorous planning needs.”
