Marsala, the Pantone Color of the Year 2015

Introducing Marsala, the
Pantone Color of the Year 2015! We were excited to see such a gorgeous, rich shade being introduced as an elemental color for this year.
We love the earthy red with the subtle brown undertones. Marsala is a wonderful mix between sophisticated and robust, a warm, nurturing color, the kind you can lean on as a basic in all of your decorating.
Used on it’s own as a root color to ground the other shades in the room, or as a strong accent to other colors, Marsala combines a rich heartiness with stylish, universal appeal. Combine it with your home decorating and interiors as well as in your beauty and fashion choices.
According to Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director at the
Pantone Color Institute, “Marsala is a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us in to its embracing warmth.”
We agree and can’t wait to suggest it to our clients.
By now you must be wondering how you can incorporate Marsala into your color scheme. We have some wonderful suggestions on where to begin.
If you are looking to completely drench your room in this rich, red wine shade, go for broke and paint the walls Marsala from top to bottom. Add some phenomenal Marsala-patterned drapes, a rug and gorgeous throw pillows, and you’ll have a beautiful room full of warmth to retreat to.
Just looking to try it out, maybe with a few accents here and there? Throw in a decorative vintage rug, some lamps or an easy chair. For the kitchen, add some fresh-looking, earthy Marsala mugs with some fabulous Marsala window coverings.
What were some of the other 2015 choices in the color industry?
Sherwin-Williams has announced recently Coral Reef as its color of the year for 2015. For
Benjamin Moore, Guilford Green was the choice, a soft hue that’s part of its Historic Color Collection. And for the second year in a row, the
Paint Quality Institute predicted gray will be the most popular hue for home interiors.
